Why Digital Talent Doesn’t Want To Work At Your Company from Aaron Shapiro.

Digital talent won’t want to work at your company if:

    • Every element of their work will be pored over by multiple layers of bureaucracy.
    • Mediocre is good enough.
    • Trial and error is condemned.
    • Your company is structured so it takes a lifetime to get to the top, and as such there are no digital experts in company-wide leadership positions.
    • Your offices are cold, impersonal and downright stodgy.

Making search social and thereby staying relevant.

“Google+ is NOT going to get your friends and family.

Google+ is NOT going to get the news media.

    So, what’s Google+ for, then?

Here’s what Vic should start hammering ON EVERY APPEARANCE:

Google+ is for finding, and talking with, the people who are interested in the same thing you are.

Facebook is NOT a good place to do THAT. Does Facebook have a search engine? No! Can you find other people interested in Autism on Facebook? NO! You can on Google+ https://plus.google.com/s/Autism.”

That’s from Robert Scoble’s post on G+: Why Google won’t talk about stats and why there is blood in the water.

UPDATE: Or as Guy Kawasaki put it recently on TWiT’s Triangulation:

Facebook is for people. Google+ is for passions.

NJ Transit partners with Google Wallet for ‘tap and pay’ option:

NJ Transit is the first public transportation agency to partner with Google Wallet, allowing customers to wave their smart phones in front of a sensor to pay and sparing them the hassle of fishing for cash or credit cards.

The “contactless payment” options are available at New York Penn Station ticket vending machines and windows, at the Newark Liberty International Airport Rail Station (AirTrain), on bus routes 6, 43, 80, 81, 87 and 120 and on some buses on the 126 line, NJ Transit announced today.

    Making search more secure:

“…websites you visit from our organic search listings will still know that you came from Google, but won’t receive information about each individual query. They can also receive an aggregated list of the top 1,000 search queries that drove traffic to their site for each of the past 30 days through Google Webmaster Tools.

I know a lot of people who aren’t but should be familiar with the Google Webmaster Tools suite. Now’s probably a pretty good time to get that going.

iOS 5 now protects against DigiNotar, MD5-signed certs

Reason enough to upgrade. Apple was infamously late to the update table when it came to DigitNotar and the whole SSL mess.

“The highest and best uses of social media are not for business. The are intensely personal.”

“Unlike the days of Kennedy’s assassination or 9/11, at this important historical moment I immediately turned OFF the television, and fired up my iPad, where I toggled back and forth between Google+ and Twitter.”

“For the people in these channels, it wasn’t about the facts. We already knew the only important one.”
